Passing villages, terrace of rice field and green mountainous terrain, you are driven eastward through Sukawati, Gianyar and Klungkung to The Mother Temple of Besakih, the oldest and most sacred temple on the island located 3.000 feet up the slope of Mount Agung with its majestic sequences of terraced courts and stair-cases, and its multitude of tall ‘merus’ outlined as black silhouette against the background of the mountain. En-route you will also see the exquisite vista of subtly blended green of the view from the hill of Jambul with its most spectacular development of steep terraced rice fields and the narrow coastal plain beyond. At Klungkung you may visit the ancient courthouse (Kerta Ghosa) or have a look at antique collection in the shops.
